J.J. Barea (Puerto Rico) drives down the lane against Canada at the FIBA Americas Championship in Caracas, Venezuela

Shooting the FIBA Americas Championship

September 07, 2013 in Basketball, Photography, Sports

I'm down in Caracas, Venezuela creating my images from the sidelines of the FIBA Americas Championship qualifier for the 2014 World Cup to be hosted in Spain. What an amazing experience!

Tristan Thompson (Cleveland Cavaliers) is representing Canada and is among the tournaments top players.

With four games every day and very few breaks in between, the days are long, but packed with incredible displays of talent, emotion, pride, and entertainment.

When Venezuela plays, the crowd fills to capacity and rocks the arena.

I'm scrambling to write this post before today's first game, so I don't have much time for details, but I'll share some of my images so far and will be back with more on my impressions from the sidelines during some incredible performances. Stay tuned!

Jamaica's Akeem Scott quickly became one of my favorite players in the tournament because of his fearlessness and intensity on the court.
