Unique styles of fashion couture and about a million trendsetters roaming the streets of NYC almost ubiquitously, the aromas of halal vendors and cupcake trucks, outdoor seating for fine dining that eats up sidewalk real estate, there's something special about summertime in New York City. A person could take the exact same route every day for an entire summer in NYC and I'm willing to bet they can stumble upon a different scene each time with its own singular memory.
I love walking around the Lower East Side, SoHo, El Barrio (Spanish Harlem), the Flatiron District, Upper West and East Sides, and that's just in Manhattan. In spite of growing up in Gotham, I appreciate every opportunity to be a tourist in my own back yard.
One specialty of a New York City summer that I look forward to year after year is street basketball. There's nothing like it anywhere else in the world. It's why people travel from across the globe to see what the hype is all about on the hallowed grounds of NYC. I can't wait to see what history will be made on the asphalt of courts like Dyckman, West 4th Street, Dean Street, and Watson. And I'm looking forward to sharing the experience with you right here on my blog.
