Kyrie Irving, Tyreke Evans, Take Over EBC at Rucker Park

Cleveland Cavalier Kyrie Irving laced up his kicks and played on the hallowed grounds of Holcombe Rucker Park for the Entertainer's Basketball Classic (EBC).

Last week I received word that Kyrie Irving, a.k.a. Uncle Drew, would be playing in NYC. So, I packed up my gear and made my way to try to create some images of the NBA's 2011-2012 Rookie of the Year who famously challenged Kobe Bryant to a one-on-one during a Team USA workout last summer.

Irving is perhaps the NBA player who streetball fans in NYC wanted to get a glimpse of the most. His fearlessness and crafty handle lend themselves well to the streetball style of play where isolations reign supreme.

Plus, the Uncle Drew commercials, where he dresses up as an old man and plays against some young boys in the park, made him an especially popular pick to get out to the parks in the Mecca of basketball—New York City.

In his commercial he did bring a friend along in Kevin Love. At the EBC, however, Kyrie brought another young, electrifying player to join him in the backcourt in Tyreke Evans of the New Orleans Pelicans.

New Orleans Pelican Tyreke Evans drew plenty oohs and ahhs from the EBC crowd with his strong, seemingly effortless moves to the basket.

Together, the two delivered a glimpse of their talents for the fans at Rucker Park on Monday, July 29th. While they did not arrive in time to compete in a full game due to some miscommunication about exactly which tournament they would be playing at, it was great to see them on the hardwood court of one of the most historic tournaments in NYC.

I will be sharing some footage from their visit to EBC soon. Feel free to leave any comments below.
