Street Basketball in New York City is Here!

The Tri-State Classic basketball tournament, founded by the prolific former coach of the Bad Boys and Terror Squad teams that won a combined 6 championships at Rucker Park, Antonio "Mousey" Carela, is one of the best streetball venues in NYC.

Summer in New York City is my favorite time of year. Restaurants extend their venues to the outdoors. The city is bustling with exciting activities like Summer Stage at Central Park, various street fairs throughout the five boroughs, and movie nights at Bryant Park among a plethora of other entertaining options.

What I look forward to most, however, is summer basketball. From Dyckman to the Tri-State Classic to LES (Lower East Side) Express, the world famous West 4th and many more, I try to get out to each of the city's top summer street basketball tournaments with my camera in-hand.

So far this summer, I've captured two weekends worth of action at the Tri-State Classic at Colonel Charles Young Park on 145th Street and Lenox Avenue in Manhattan (in the heart of Harlem) . The games have not disappointed having featured some of NYC's top players at every stage of their respective careers.

I'm sharing a few of the images I've created thus far this summer and will be updating my blog with all of the exciting action yet to come in this summer of 2013. To learn more about the Tri-State Classic—and to see more of my writing and images—visit their website at www.tristateclassic.com or follow them on twitter @TSClassicNYC or instagram @tristateclassic.
