My Personal Top Ten Dunks of Summer '13

At number 10, Karl Towns of the Dominican Republic national team throws one down over the defense of Puerto Rico's Ricardo Sanchez at the FIBA America's tournament in Caracas, Venezuela.

The sumer time is when I have some of the most fun creating my shots from the sidelines of various tournaments. This past summer I was on the sidelines of the Tri-State Classic, Hoops in the Sun, the World Famous West 4th Street, the Entertainer's Basketball Classic at Rucker Park, Watson, the Nike Tournament of Champions, Dyckman, the East New York Classic, FIBA's 3x3 World Tour, and the FIBA Americas tournament in Venezuela to name a few (Phew! Looking back, I don't know how I made it to all of those games this summer!).

I recently thought to myself that I have taken so many shots in the summer of '13, that I can't possibly remember each one. With new and exciting projects always on the docket, I don't always have time to go back and reminisce on my images. I'll confess that I actually don't even remember them all after a while.

Coming in at number nine, Stacey Daniels elevates at the Tri-State Classic where he suited up for the storied Bingo's All-Stars.

After receiving some requests from my Instagram followers, I thought it might be interesting to go back and assemble a top ten list of images that focus on my best dunks of the summer. So, I started culling through images and tagging some of my favorites.

Mike "Optimus Prime" Glover, affectionately referred to as "The Punisher" by announcer Joe Pope, has a penchant for rising up and finishing above the rim... with power. He earned the 8-spot on my personal top ten dunk list with this soaring tomahawk a lá former NY Knick Latrell Spreewell up at Dyckman Park in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.

This is not to be confused with a list of the top ten dunks of the summer. While I did make my rounds throughout NYC and in South America, I could not possibly capture all of the top dunks of the summer. So, this list is simply the top ten images I was able to create based on where I was this summer.

Feel free to follow me on Instagram @jonlopez13 to see them in real time as I post them. So far, I am up to number eight. I will update you here on the blog when I make it to the top three or five.

These are not easy decisions to make, but I am having a blast making time to reflect on what was an incredible summer of basketball in New York City and beyond. I hope you enjoy the images.
